Drill for Single Leg Mechanics
Here’s a simple yet effective drill to work on single leg landing mechanics with a couple training tools with a low box and some cones.
The goal is to gradually build tissue tolerance within the knee through different planes of motion before making things more dynamic in terms of efficient SSC (Stretch Shortening Cycle) utilization.
You can see on her right knee she is still not quite there in comparison to her left. If the athlete can perform movements without pain and overtime make small improvements then success will come.
Cones, hurdles or any type of marker are great because it forces the athlete to worry about just technique rather than objective measurements such as height or distance. Very scalable to the athlete, which is critical in meeting them where they are at physically.
