Proper Muscle Activation for Better Range of Motion to Improve Gait
After an injury or surgery our motor control gets skewed. It’s important to be able to improve proper muscle activation early on. Proper muscle activation can enable better range of motion and movement. Neuro Muscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) is a type of stimulation that specifically helps assist a lessened muscle contraction.
The upcoming slides show how improving quad activation (among others) can help with walking. __ Slide 2: “Pre-Gait Training” - Right quad activation with step through — Slide 3: “Assisted Gait Training” - single crutch training, promotes normal arm sway while providing assistance to faulty Right Quad — Slide 4: “Normal Gait Pattern” - full volitional Right Quad activation, achieves full knee extension enabling forward movement
