Coach Matt grew up playing baseball at a very young age and then in the 6th grade started to play basketball. He would go on to play at the varsity level for both baseball and basketball his last 3 years at Granite Hills High School in Porterville, CA.
Coach Matt went on to attend Vanguard University where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Pre-Health and worked as Physical Therapy Aide at Progressive Physical Therapy and Rehab. In 2016, he completed his Master’s degree at California State University, Fullerton in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Strength and Conditioning.
After graduating from Vanguard University, he spent the following summer and fall interning at Cal State Fullerton under Coach Isaac Salazar and Coach Will Otto, working with collegiate athletes. Towards the beginning of Fall 2014, he began an internship at ProSport Sports Performance and then was hired on as a performance coach. Matt's passion for coaching quickly led to his promotion, and is currently the Sports Performance Director at our Laguna Hills location.
As a coach his main interest is building and maintaining strength for all individuals, as well as working with baseball and basketball players. Outside of training, Coach Matt is devoted to keep learning about the world of sports performance training with the goal to apply that knowledge and help others maximize their potential.
